![]() ![]() The hand-to-hand stuff shifts between weirdly slow and soft without impact at the start of fight sequences, then shifts into fast and choppy so it can be hard to follow. In short, this is just the peak of death battle fights and there will likely never be another one this good, which is fine because the bar it sets is so absurdly high that 11/10 episodes like Saitama VS Popeye can’t reach it. Genuinely unbelievable how fucking good this fight is, and i can keep going. If this episode was half the length it’d still be a 10/10 because 3:30 is pretty average for a db I believe, but nope it is well above average length which does wonders to elevate every single part of the episode. Then there’s plenty of standout moments, the beginning exchange, the Otacon segments (Oh yeah there are 4 characters very involved in this one did I forget that one?), the use of the box, and of course the one minute long climax that is absolute perfection. It’s not like it drags either, it is 7 minutes long and is intense and hype the entire time, which is good for a normal length db but is even better when you have a again, 7 MINUTE ONE. Narratively it’s absurdly difficult to match since it’s again 7 minutes long. There is a fight with a setup just as phenomenal, Omni-Man VS Homelander, but that setup makes up the majority of the animation while Snake VS Sam has 5 more minutes of action even after a minute of great setup. ![]() There are fights that match and exceed the visuals such as Sauron VS Lich King, but they don’t last anywhere close to as long this fight or have as smooth animations. Saitama VS Popeye and such come close but here’s me rambling on for a stupid long time on why they don’t match it. The fights are always what make a db, and to this day theres not a fight that beats it.
